What is Phoenix Fiction?
We are a collective of indie authors from all over the globe who write science fiction and fantasy. We chose the phoenix as our logo because we believe the phoenix represents the transformative power of story. There is always hope, even in the darkest situations, and new life often springs from ashes.
Why was it created?
We believe in supporting each other and promoting each others’ work. We were doing it already. This collective was formed so we could do it more effectively.
In 2017 our editor-in-chief E.B. Dawson read about a marketing collective of all women indie authors who pooled their resources and audience for the benefit of all. That’s when the idea for a speculative fiction collection sparked in her mind. Later that year she was able to meet two of her favorite indies (Hannah Heath and Beth Wangler) in person. She started putting out feelers in conversation and the response was overwhelmingly positive. That fall she reached out to five other science fiction and fantasy authors and PFW was born December 20th, 2017.
We exist to support each other (marketing, beta reading, editing, graphics etc.), to empower the indie author community, and to help our readers find more indie books that they love!
Who belongs to the Phoenix Fiction Collective?
You can check out all of our member authors, and their works, on the “Author” drop-down menu.
What do the Phoenix Fiction authors have in common?
You will find that a lot of our books have overlapping themes. We also share a similar philosophy on writing: we don’t believe compelling stories have to be bleak, depressing, overly graphic, or contain adult content. Those of us who do explore the darker aspects of reality do so in order to get a greater message across. We want to change the world with our stories, through tears or laughter. There is a time for everything, after all.
How can I be involved?
